I am taking over editing of Angel O2 Mercer's Calypso Explorer Map. This is a new thread for me to post the latest versions.

do you see a chance to add info about the DENSITY of a spawn? there is nothing more frustrating than travelling 20 minutes to a spawn found on map just to find out there are just 1 or 2 mobs wandering around on radar.

As for adding a density indicator, I've thought about it, it would be a pretty major revamp and would be a bit tricky to execute, as I see it there are two ways I could go about it, one would be to add a separate indicator in a similar style to the spawn maturity indicator, and add it everywhere I feel it's applicable, and the other way would be adjusting the intensity of the colour appropriately based on density.

I'm no design expert, but I think the first one might add too much clutter in some cases where there is already quite a bit, and the second one would be hard to really tell depending on what is underneath (on the map) under the colour layer, since that will alter the way the way it looks.

I understand what you mean, though, maybe it would be a good idea to add an indicator at the cost of having that extra clutter..

i thought about a simple 3x3 square field like this:

XXX


X-axis indicating the maturity
y-axis indicating the density

with squares left blank in each direction, if density or maturity is lower.

hereby you also could see on first sight, how dangerous it might be for you to go there.

if it would be possible to base that information on entropedia, then everyone could enter values from 1-3 for density/maturity.

dreaming:
maybe the database for the entire map could be rasterized in 100x100m squares, where we can enter findings like minerals and mobs and harvestable trees, etc...

just a thought..to spare space and dont getting confused with to many bars next to different spawn..maybe add
maturity and desity numbers ?

[60641, 83831, 229] Sharpclaw Plateau. Spawn of nothing but small Berycleds, medium-high density.
 
For indicating density, I got in touch with a friend who does graphic design professionally and asked them if they had any ideas, they gave me these two as examples and said they were probably the best ways of showing it using colours with the current format, and that the alternative would probably be to just have numbers next to or inside of the maturity indicators.

I think with the color dot in the centre works fine, maybe even a number or something as you mentioned but on the centre sounds about right

According to the existing map legend in top left map corner:
the 1/3rd filled circle means low maturity spawn,
the 2/3rds filled circle means medium maturity spawn,
the fully filled circle means high maturity spawn.

so for me the spawn maturity is already sufficiently clear.
or did you mean the spawn density, in the meaning of number of mobs per area?

for indicating the density with a color (green-low,yellow-medium, red-high) and the maturity with thirds of circle, i would prefer your first (upper) suggestion.
for me it transports the information faster and easier to perceive.

however, thanks for working on the map!

The new Berycled Dynamic event near Livas is not shown, is that because it still doesn't seem to be working properly?
